61st Cavalry is one of the last operational non-mechanized horse mounted cavalry regiments in the world, and Royal Enfield, makers of the world’s oldest motorcycle model in continuous production — This is a partnership not just limited to supporting the 61st Cavalry polo team, but also one built at the back of a promise to preserve solid tradition and resilient history from a brand that has rumbled on the roads for over a century. ‘Horse Power’ took months of research as I worked on piecing together a narrative that would tug at the heartstrings of the masses and thereby bring to the forefront — the epic story of modern Indian Polo. As a part of the project, I got the opportunity to visit Jodhpur and Jaipur, two majestic cities in the desert state of Rajasthan, India. Jodhpur incidentally also happens to be the place where I spent 3 formative years of my childhood. However, this visit was uniquely special as I met with the King of Jodhpur - His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II Of Jodhpur. I also met with His Highness Sawai Padmanabh Singh Of Jaipur aka Pacho, who shared all of his knowledge about the niche sport, accompanying us in his palatial living room located on the top floor of the city palace, the very room where the idea of the International Federation of Polo was conceived. A great honor it was to lead this project.
